Janet Edmond, Director of Population Environment at Conservation International
Janet Edmond is Director of Population Environment at CI. Since 2004, she has managed USAID-funded integrated health and conservation projects in Madagascar, Cambodia and the Philippines. Together with CI colleagues working on freshwater conservation, Edmond is currently promoting initiatives to better link freshwater conservation and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) efforts in developing countries.
Anila Jacob is an internal medicine physician with an MPH in Global Environmental Health, currently completing the second year of a two year American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellowship with the Forestry and Biodiversity Office at USAID. Dr. Jacob is interested in the linkages between biodiversity loss and community health. She is currently coordinating a research project at USAID examining the relationship between biodiversity loss/conservation actions and community health outcomes using Demographic and Health Surveys. Prior to her fellowship, she was a senior scientist at the Environmental Working Group, where her research focused on the impacts of chemical pollutants on human health and the environment.
