- Generation of economic opportunities associated with protected areas: The ICDP model has given way to a broader geographic and economic approaches. But still the exists. How are co-management support efforts around the world addressing the need to develop alternative income generation opportunities for local PA stakeholders? I know Senegal has recently developed a draft “Community Benefits” strategy which includes an approach to doing this. Here in Bangladesh, we are now doing a pre-assessment of enterprise development opportunities. The following questions arise: What products are being identified as unique opportunities for development and export? Obtaining information on export rules, standards, etc, is very costly for us, so we’d like to tap into the experiences of others, and share what we know. What approaches are being used to identify enterprise or income generation opportunities?
