Formed in response to protected areas being on the agenda of a Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) meeting for the first time, this group of major international conservation NGOs used their collective portfolio of conservation investment ($1 billion/year in 120 countries) to add credibility to a joint statement on national protected area policies to adopt, and a joint NGO commitment to increasing and enhancing protected areas around the world.
